Switzerland

Switzerland is located in the center of Europe. It is landlocked and borders with France, Italy, Austria, Liechtenstein and Germany. The mountains occupy more than 2/3 of the country and make it a very unique destination. Visitors to Switzerland will find beautiful landscapes, well-preserved historic cities, and lots of clean lakes, green meadows and plenty of pure mountain air.

The Matterhorn in Zermatt is definitely the most famous mountain in the world. We believe car free Zermatt to be a must see! Upon spotting the Matterhorn one is immediately overwhelmed by its majestic beauty.

Lucerne is another legendary destination. Its charming Old Town straddles the Reuss River on the western edge of Lake Lucerne and it is in close proximity of a few of the most popular mountain rides. It can be an excellent hub from where to explore the rest of Switzerland.

In the Bernese Oberland you will find famous mountain peaks including Mt. Jungfrau and Mt. Schilthorn. A favorite vacation region for the Swiss it is a great family destination too. Interlaken serves as the gateway to other smaller mountain villages from where you can take cable cars and cogwheel trains to these peaks.

In the south you will find a complete different culture. Switzerland's southernmost canton, Italian-speaking, seems a world apart from the rest of the country.  A mild climate makes Lugano attractive in winter with its Mediterranean Riviera like atmosphere.

Zurich is the most populous city in Switzerland. Famous for its financial institutions and shops on Bahnhofstrasse it is a lively city with an interesting history and Old Town. From spring to fall Lake Zurich offers endless opportunities for water sports, swimming, sunbathing and pick nicking.

To the east lay Graubunden which is home to many spectacular mountain peaks and valleys. The Engadin is an active vacation destination with panoramas of great, deep valleys, fiercely blue mountain lakes and endless rows of White Mountains.

In the west situated on Lake Geneva visitors will find Geneva, Lausanne and Montreux. Surrounded by rolling hills covered with woods and vineyards this area makes up the bulk of French-speaking Switzerland. Geneva is unquestionably one of Switzerland's most privileged cities on account of its exceptional location.

Traveling by rail is a Swiss attraction of its own. Safe, clean and efficient trains offer absolute freedom and flexibility of travel. Train connects all of Switzerland and where it doesn’t you will find a tramway, boat or postal buses to get you where you need to be. Scenic trains such as the Glacier Express connect main destinations the Alps.
